L&T Port operationalizes its first container terminal at Kattupalli Port

L&T Port on February 11, 2013 opened its first container loading facility at Kattupalli port near Ennore in Tamil Nadu.  The facility with a capacity to load 1.2 million standard containers per annum is part of the shipyard-cum-port complex that L&T Shipbuilding has constructed at Kattupalli with an investment of Rs 3,989 crore. The project is implemented by Kattupalli International Container Terminal owned by L&T Ports, a unit of L&T Shipbuilding.

Bridgestone commences production at its Chakan plant

Bridgestone Corporation has started production of passenger cars radials at its green-field plant at Chakan, near Pune.  The project, to be completed in phases, is coming up with an estimated investment of Rs 2,600 crore.  When fully completed the facility will have an installed capacity to make 10,000 passenger car tyres and 3,000 tyres for buses and trucks per day.

Tetrapack commissions dairy machinery plant at Chakan

TetraPack India has commissioned dairy machinery project at Chakan, Pune.  The company has set up the machinery unit for dairy industries with capacity of 400 numbers per annum with an investment of Rs 594 crore. The project is spread over an area of 45 acres.

New Terminal of Chennai International Airport opened.

M Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India inaugurated the newly built integrated terminal of the Chennai International Airport on 31 January 2013. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has developed the terminals and upgraded airport facilities with an investment of over Rs 2,000 crore.
