Adani Petronet Dahej Port commissions second terminal

Adani Petronet (Dahej) Port, which operates Dahej port in Gujarat, has commissioned the second jetty at the port. The company is a JV between Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone and Petronet LNG. The terminal at Dahej port is equipped with two jetties with a deep draft of 14 mtrs each thus enabling berthing of large capsize vessels. Both the jetties are equipped with state of the art Gottwald make Mobile Harbor cranes. Dahej Port handles varied commodities such as coal, silica sand, rock phosphate, steel products and project cargo / machinery items.

Tata Power commissions Unit 1 of Mundra UMPP

Tata Power, on  January 8, 2012, commissioned Unit I of its 4,000 MW (5x800) Ultra Mega Power Project at Mundra in Gujarat. The company test fired its first supercritical 800 MW unit with initial generation of 60 MW. Tata Power’s 4,000 MW coal based UMPP entails an investment of Rs 17,000 crore overall.  The coal for the plant will primarily be imported from Indonesia through the Kandla port.  Once fully operational, Gujarat (1805 Mw) and Maharashtra (760 Mw) will be the largest beneficiary states.  www.tatapower.com

Essar Steel completes capacity expansion at Hazira

Essar Steel has completed the capacity expansion of its Hazira steel plant near Surat in Gujarat. The steel unit capacity has been raised to 10 million tpa at an investment of $7.5 billion (approx Rs 39,750 crore). The investment includes raw material beneficiation, steel-making and distribution. The plant will have the capability to manufacture steel at a low cost through a series of cost-cutting measures. The Hazira facility combines a DRI, blast furnace and corex technology for making iron, which is later used in the steel-making process through electric arc furnaces. (January 2012)

Essar Oil commission 8 mtpa ARU plant at Vadinar

Essar Oil announced on January 9, 2012, the commissioning of 8 million tpa Amines Regeneration Unit (ARU) as part of the Vadinar Refinery expansion.  The phase I of capex programme entails expansion of Vadinar refinery capacity from 14 mtpa to 18 mtpa. Essar’s ARU unit is one of the largest such plants in the world.

Mahindra ramps up Yuvraj mini tractor capacity at its Rajkot plant

Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) has ramped up its mini tractor manufacturing capacity at Rajkot in Gujarat. M&M has raised the capacity of the Rajkot unit from 1,800 units per annum to 2,500 units per annum. Accor International opened Ibis Bangalore Techpark, located at RMZ Ecospace, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore in November 2011. Blue Circle Organics commissions bulk drug plant at Ambernath

Blue Circle Organics commissioned its bulk drugs manufacturing unit at MIDC Ambernath in Thane district of Maharashtra in January 2012.  The company has invested Rs 200 crore in the facility that is spread over eight acres.

JSW Energy commissions Unit III of Barmer power plant

JSW Energy has commissioned 135 Mw Unit III of the Barmer Super Thermal Power Project in Rajasthan.  The plant is being set up by Raj West Power (P) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Ltd.  With the commissioning of Unit III, the installed capacity of Barmer Plant has reaches 405 Mw.

Unit II of Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar commissioned.

NTPC  on November 5, 2011 commissioned 500 Mw Unit II of Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at PO Jharli in Jhajjar district of Haryana.  The plant is owned by Aravali Power Co Ltd, a JV of NTPC,  Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Indraprastha Power Generation Company.  With the commissioning of Unit II, the total installed capacity of Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project  has reached 1,000 MW.
