Unit II of Maithon Power Project in Jharkhand commissioned

Tata Power on 24 July 2012 announced commissioning of its Unit II of 525 Mw of its Maithon mega power project in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Maithon Power (MPL), the 74:26 JV between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has implemented 1050 Mw coal based power project power in Jharkhand.  The project is spread over 1,200 acre.

Unit II of Tata Power’s Mundra UPPP synchronized

Tata Power Ltd has on July 24, 2012 synchronised the 800 Mw Unit II of the 4,000 Mw Mundra UMPP. The Unit I of Mundra UMPP was commissioned in March 2012. With synchronisation of the Unit II, the thermal power generation capacity of Tata Power stands at 5,247 MW and the generation through clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar stands at 852 MW. 

L&T commissions new switchgear facility at Vadodara

L&T on 12 July 2012 commissioned its new Electrical and Automation (E&A) facility for switchgear products in Vadodara, Gujarat. The newly commissioned facility, set on a 18 acre plot next to L&T Knowledge City, will manufacture Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs) and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs).

Radisson Blu Plaza Banjara Hills opens

NHPC commissions Chamera III Hydro Power project in Himachal Pradesh

HPC has commissioned all the three units of its 231 MW (77 MW x 3) Chamera-III hydro electric project in Himachal Pradesh.   The 231 MW Chamera-III is a run of river scheme on river Ravi in the upstream of 300 MW Chamera-II Hydroelectric Project in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The project was sanctioned by Central Government at a cost of Rs 1,405 crores in 2005.

250 Mw III Unit of Pragati Power Corporation at Bawana becomes operational

Pragati Power Corporation has commissioned the third  250 Mw advanced-class gas turbine at 1,500 Mw combined cycle power plant (CCPP) at Bawana in Delhi. This power plant is equipped with two steam turbines of 250 MW each and can be operated in both open cycle as well as closed cycle mode. BHEL was entrusted the turn-key contract of the project.

Mahindra 2 Wheelers R&D Centre opens in Pune

Mahindra 2 Wheelers Ltd on 4 July 2012 opened its two wheeler Research and Developments (R&D) centre at Pune. The R&D centre was set up at an investment of Rs 100 crore, will enable Mahindra 2 Wheelers to undertake in-house design and development of engine technology for its motorcycles.

Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has launched a new property in Bangalore - Davanam Sarovar Portico Suites.  The new hotel has 132 suites ranging from 650 sq ft to 1,200 sq ft with a separate kitchenette along with comfortable beds, electronic safe and wi-fi connectivity. The newly opened hotel is the company’s fourth property in Bangalore after Radha Hometel, Savannah Sarovar Premiere and Park Plaza.
